Halloween costumes in Japan

Yep, we're not the only country who observes Halloween. The Japanese (of course) are at it as well.
Hit this link for a mini-pictorial.

Seinfeld opines on Halloween

Here's Jerry Seinfeld doing a little stand-up dealie relating his thoughts on Halloween.
Not that scary, but quite funny.

Goth Fest

Goths. There's a certain distant fascination with them. Is it a culture, cult or subculture? What possesses these people to want to look like that, all black, dark and mysterious?
A couple of weeks ago, I ran across some pictures of an event called "GothicFest", of which I know nothing. The pictures I saved, however were curiously bizarre and I saved them for presentation today, Halloween.
Feast your eyes on those who walk amongst us.

Halloween stripper
This is a nice short little video ditty with a surprise ending.
There she is, up on the stage. She starts taking it off.
ALL off.

He's dead, Jim.

Soon to have a dead Trekkie on your hands? Send your loved one off in style in this Star Trek casket.
For all those who have been somehow disrupted or transmogrified, there's a Star Trek Urn.
Perhaps a nice sendoff on the next space shuttle launch would be in order. The could orbit the Earth with Scotty and Roddenberry.
Engage!

Dress Steve Ballmer

This looks like fun. From Nitrozak and the wonderful folks at Geek Culture and the Joy of Tech, here's Steve Ballmer in all his perspiratory freshness waiting for someone to dress him up for Halloween in this cool flash presentation.
Remove some stuff, add some stuff. Boots, hair, pants, a lot of choices are there for you to have some fun and waste some serious time.
Ballmer is waiting here.

Warcraft beer song
I know what a phenomenon W.O.W. has been but thankfully I haven't gotten caught up in its time consuming temptation. I assume that one familiar with the game can create custom maps and scenarios just like in the original Doom. The W.O.W. "Internet is for Porn" video is an example.
Now comes another one, this time with a classical music soundtrack (Bizet's Carmen, I think) and it's about one of my favorite weekend pastimes, beer.
A different kind of drag race

Looks like those Top Gear guys are at it again, this time pitting a Bugatti Veyron against a Eurofighter Typhoon.
A mile horizontal and a mile vertical.
This is going to be interesting.

World's worst plastic surgery

Maxim has an unusual pictorial on bad plastic surgery. Some are not so bad, some are just grotesque. Check it out here.
Here are some more botched cosmetic alterations.
Brrr! Everlasting Halloween costumes.

World record bench press

World record press of 1,010 pounds. That's like two large-block Chevy engines connected by a bar.
As the announcer states, the guy is "da king o' da bench press."
Awesome.

This is a man's world

This little short spot demonstrates that boys will be boys even before boys can walk.

9 last minute D.I.Y. Halloween costumes

So, you got the call last night and accepted an invitation to a Halloween party. What will you wear? There's still time.
Look here for some tips. Then look around your basement, attic, garage or shed. Find your imagination. Find some junk.
Use glue, needle and thread or duct tape to throw something together in less than an hour. Add a little more time if you have to go and buy glue, sewing kit or duct tape at WalMart.
At the party, some stuff will fall off. These become the little gifts you will leave behind in gratitude for the great party.
So get going! Have fun.

The largest shotgun in the world
Here it is, the Punt Gun, a gun so large it has to be mounted to punts (see def. #2) before the trigger is pulled. This baby is 10 feet long and has a 2-inch diameter barrel.
Guaranteed to take out the entire population of a duck pond.
Read a bit more, and watch a demo video here.
Ka-blooey!!

The fastest Vista laptop to date

PCWorld Magazine did some testing and got some remarkable results. After lining up a few computers from various manufacturers, the loaded up (or had loaded) the Vista OS, and ran the same benchmark test program on all of them.
Astonishingly, they found that the fastest Vista laptop was, in fact, a MacBookPro.
Check out a little blurb here.

European General Lee

Here's a vid of the General's little brother across the pond.
It's short so watch quickly.

Tractor dance

You may not have seen everything there is to see in the world today. Here's something I think no one has seen, tractor square dancing.
Kinda slow, but perfectly synchronized to each other. I wonder when and how often they practice.

Mom was right

Here's a new product that has finally been released after many years of research, MomSpit. This cleansing agent is used to get rid of those smudges and dirt spots on kids' faces and other places.
My mom did it. Your mom did it (or still does it). Only thing missing is the hankie.
Buy some and take it to work at the shop, garage or office. Your coworkers will envy you. Oh, yeah.

Putt Trek

Just in time for the holidays, why not get that Trekkie/golfer/"athlete" in your life a Star Trek putter?
The sweet spot on the face is apparently loaded with dilithium crystals and the nacelles light up when the ball is tapped. Or something.
See it at the Star Trek Store.

Extreme Hangman

Here's a cool take on the classic game Hangman. This time the stick figures meet quite untimely demises.
The ticking may drive you nuts but try the game on for size.
Play it here.

Cranky Geeks

John C. Dvorak is a tech writer for numerous computer related publications as well as having his own site, Dvorak.org/blog which he shamelessly pitches at every chance he can get. He is also a tech curmudgeon and is a well known Windows fanatic and Apple basher.
Well, the times seem to have changed. On this week's Cranky Geeks vidcast #87, two interesting topics were discussed. One was Vista and the other was Leopard.
I've saved the good parts and here they are. This first part talks about Vista and it's effect on business.
The second movie is a little shorter but the panel discusses the recent release of Apple's OS X Leopard.
(It seems that Google couldn't sync the audio with the video on these clips, so at least listen to the commentary. Sorry. -FCG)
May I ask for a moment of your time?
Yeah, that's me in the reflection on the hard drive platter, my take on an M.C.
Hammer Escher parody. I don't know why I haven't shown more of my facial features up here but time will tell.
Ya know, I've been doing this SixPackTech site for about 3 months now, and I'm wondering what you, the readers think of all the miscellaneous, interesting and amusing crap I put up here.
When I wake up in the morning, I do my thing in the can, and while I'm sitting there, I think of what in the hell I'm gonna post on the site for that day. I have just 3 hours to read the papers, check my favorite websites and then start posting before I have to go to work. But I know that it's going to be some cool, interesting and amusing stuff that matters and entertains us all.
I check some web stats that I've subscribed to and I see that it's not just me and my four kids who are checkin' the place out. There's a lot of you guys out there who visit. And I thank you. It gives my life a sort of cyber-meaning.
I said in the past that I don't really like to talk about myself, and I really don't want to do it now. But I'd like to hear a word or two from the visitors who come here.
I'd appreciate a word or two, a "hi" or a "hello from..." from any of you who have the time to compose a brief email and send it to me at SixPackTech@gmail.com. Or just comment on a post. Or send some constructive criticism, or suggestion, or bizarre thoughts. Fantasies you can keep to yourself. I have my own. I'll post any and all/some of your messages right here.
Jesus, it's Sunday already. Maybe I shouldn't... maybe it's all of that beer I... maybe I... Ah, screw it. Let it ride.

"Why is the fruit bowl always in the bathroom?"
You probably won't find these furniture items in the Ikea catalog.
