Classical Metallica
Here's something you don't see every day, Metallica performed by a trio of cellos.
"Cellos? Why are you wasting my time with this tripe?"
No, wait! This is actually quite good. Start the video and wait for the drums to finish. Then it's headbangin' time.
Trust me, this is good.

The history of the Italian crotch grab
Many of us have seen the gesture of the "horns," where only the index finger and pinky are extended. And the widely known flipping of the bird. The Italians, however, have a history of some the gestures they use and the crotch grab is one of them.
This is not to poke at Italians, as I would never belittle a nationality. However, this is an interesting history of a gesture, somewhat like etymology, or the origin of words.
"'Ey, I gotcher hand gesture right here."

Setting up the space shuttle
I've run across some very interesting pictures of the arrival of the main fuel tank and the preparation of the space shuttle prior to lift-off.
The photos are amazing and gives one a perspective on the overall enormity of the shuttle hangar.
Check it out right here.

What in the Wide World of Sports is "chain surfing?"
I didn't know until I spotted this video.
It's unbelievable! Dude starts surfing right after the traffic passes.

The best game ever!
Not quite a flash mob, not quite Candid Camera, this is a heartwarming video of a classy prank played an a California little league team. There's no cruelty involved but perhaps rather a gesture of faith in our youth.
Let's take an average little league baseball game and make the players feel like they're in the big leagues.
You'll be tickled.
Watch the video below, then check out this link for more info on this event.

CRAP! We just missed it!
The "object" shown at the left is a four-necked guitar-bass-mandolin-banjo. It was sold on eBay with the winning bid of $255.
Someone has to be pretty talented to play one of these. Probably look ridiculous at it too. That and luggin' the damn thing around from show to show. The investment in strings alone probably cost a bundle. Tuning it? I'd say if yer not ready in a half hour we're starting withoutcha.

Every man should carry a pocket knife
I've been carrying a pocket knife since I was a Boy Scout when me and Robert Baden-Powell hung around together. It has been an indispensable part of my "wardrobe" and a very handy tool at any given time. The one I have I bought at Sears in 1974 and I still have. Sharpened it 116,596 times. Every Christmas, I have to pull it out and pass it around for everyone to zip open their gifts. It is now fondly referred to as the "Christmas knife." The style I have is called a "toothpick." It's similar to the one shown above except for the curved part of the liner.
If yer a man, you will have a pocket knife; no ifs, ands or buts about it. Why? You must read this very interesting article on why every man should carry a pocket knife.

Car logo evolution
Auto emblems have evolved through the decades, some for the better and some that make you go, "meh."
The histories behind each insignia are quite interesting, if you have the time to read them.
Otherwise, just look at the pretty pictures right here.

9 words that don't mean what you think
Here's a little English lesson sprinkled with some gratuitous cleavage for no reason.
Let's start out with "irregardless." Hearing that word is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.
Surprisingly, I was under a few of these misguided word definitions myself.
Cracked.com has the word list waiting right here.

Sundial clock idea that just might work
This is so cool. A sundial clock using bulbs instead of the sun.
Called the "Bulbdial Clock," it's just an idea for right now.
Personally, I hope some company picks up on this. Talk about a conversation starter at parties...

Cartoon skeletons
This is a great slant on animation. An artisan has constructed skeletons of well known cartoon characters such as Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck and the Roadrunner. The effects are quite amazing in the photos after the jump.
After looking at these, my first thought was, "Why didn't he make more? I'd like to see more."
See the cartoon skeletons right here.

Creative bookshelf designs
Books. Reliable sources of a seemingly infinite amount of knowledge and entertainment usually remain after they're read. So whaddya do?
Store, donate or sell the so-so books and keep the favorites. When those start piling up, just learn some carpentry, wood jointery, buy some shop tools and create your own.
Or just make an offer to one of these guys. Maybe they'll sell you the one you like.
Here are 30 very interesting bookshelf designs. You'll be amazed at what they've come up with.

Balance - animated film
This is my favorite animated video of all time. Called Balance, it's almost a Claymation creation but not quite. The premise is impossible, yet it demonstrates many characteristics exhibited in humans today.
Out of this film, you can get hints of teamwork, curiosity, creativity, animosity, greed and abandonment.
There is audio but there is not dialog. It's about 7 and a half minutes long, but it's worth every second.
Balance won the Oscar in 1990 for Best Animated Film. Watch it below.

Table-top tapper
Some clever entrepreneurial types have devised a method of installing a beer tap at every table of their establishment, all the while keeping track of the amount of beer poured at all taps.
Saves wear and tear on the cocktail server and you won't have to wade into the crowd at the bar.
The technology that goes into this has been around for years. It's just nobody thought to tap into the idea (groan.)
Check out the vid below.

Quantum Jujitsu
Jujitsu, the gentle art, has been eclipsed by the fights in the octagon of the UFC. But I must say that the martial art of Jujitsu should not be overlooked as a means of self defense.
Shown below is an amazing demonstration of what's called "Quantum Jujitsu." Watch as the the fighter in the blue ghi (or whatever they call it) throws himself all over his opponent to effect some phenomenal takedowns.
