Net slang

Finally found it. The be-all and end-all of Internet slang.

Need to know an acronym?

L33t, WIBNI, YMMV and PEBCAK are all there as well as tons more.

So go look at and then bookmark the Internet Slang dictionary of acronyms. The no longer will YSS but you could become someone's BIFFL.

TFTI?

Sweet Rat Ride

I have a special place in my blood pump for rat rods but I don't know if you could call this car a true rat.

Flat black and low to the ground, this vintage vehicle has some unique features. She's runnin' a 300 c.i. six cylinder engine with the exhaust ported through the frame rails, three on a side.

Check out a nice pictorial here.

Rat rods. Dirty, messy, smelly, dark, dingy and loud. I think I need one.

Sweet Home Alabama, Finnish-Russian style

It is truly, truly amazing the crap that you can find on the Web. Remember the post of the Japanese orchestra performing Smoke on the Water? Thought that was bizarre?

Here's another one in a similar vein. The Leningrad Cowboys from Finland and the Red Army Choir from Russia perform Sweet Home Alabama.

This one's actually not bad. They pretty much nail the song but the costumes of the Cowboys are something out of a fantasy comic book or an LSD flashback.

That and the Russians all nicely lined up behind, make for a truly baffling performance. When this is done, you will sit back in your chair and wonder what the hell it was that you just watched. Try to explain this to a friend.

The song will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day. You're welcome.

Desktop UFO

This is a great video ad for the Samsung U700 cell phone. It's one of those time-lapse animations but it's extremely well made. The camera at one point goes out of focus, probably to give the viewer the idea that this is homemade.

The end transformation of the craft into phone is slick.

Watch below.

Wal-Mart dumps Linux

Wal-Mart will no longer offer Linux PCs at their stores. The open source (free) Linux operating sytem has been striving for a number of years to get onto the desktops. The OS is stable, versatile and free. Did I already say free? The Ubuntu distribution of the Linux OS is by far the most popular from what I can tell.

Why am I telling you all this? I was checkin' out MacDailyNews.com this morning and they did a little blurb on this. What made me decide to share it with you are the editor's comments to the article. Had to laugh out loud.

Wal-Mart pulls Linux PCs due to poor sales

"Computers that run the Linux operating system instead of Microsoft Corp.'s Windows didn't attract enough attention from Wal-Mart customers, and the chain has stopped selling them in stores, a spokeswoman said Monday," The Associated Press reports. "'This really wasn't what our customers were looking for,' said Wal-Mart Stores Inc. spokeswoman Melissa O'Brien."

MacDailyNews Take: Yeah. They were looking for Slim Jims, pro wrestling posters, 56x29 Faded Glory jeans, and beer helmets.

AP continues, "To test demand for systems with the open-source operating system, Wal-Mart stocked the $199 'Green gPC,' made by Everex of Taiwan, in about 600 stores starting late in October. Walmart.com, the chain's e-commerce site, had sold Linux-based computers before and will continue selling the gPC."
Double PWNage! Wal-Mart dumps Linux; MDN dumps on Wal-Mart. (The official store of Nascar.)
