What do Michael Jackson and Mr. Potatohead have in common?
They both have 20 noses.
The anomaly that is Jacko, the little kid in an adult body, who's had more alterations than an open faced copper mine, will be on the cover of Ebony Magazine. Shown as a white man. How bizarre is that?
Something along the way has gone terribly wrong. First, Jacko, who used to be way cool, has become an entity unto himself. Second, Ebony Magazine features him, starched, on its cover.
You gotta see this. Ebony Mag article is here.

Women's mullets
When you see someone sporting a mullet hairstyle, what's the first impression you get? Some redneck who's stuck in the 70s.
Mullets, however, are not restricted to the guys. Some women are carryin' 'em around this very day. And they probably drive pickups and dip tobacco, among other things. How 'bout a kiss, darlin'?
Check out these pictures and see if you can come up with two words that exemplify the mullet wearing female. "Babe" is not one of them.
Business in the front and a party in the back. Pfft!
The airline from hell
Retro pickup

Remember the days of the El Camino? Those days will soon be back with this Pontiac model soon to be introduced. No fancy name; it'll just be called the G8 ST ("sport truck"). This slick number will have a 6-liter V8 and setcha back about $31k.

Def bike deafness
Some kids may be too young to drive. Or lost their licenses due to some oversight. Or just can't afford a car.
So the inventive types construct "systems" that can play their music on a bike.
Now they can cruise the hoods and go deaf while driving the neighbors bonkers at the same time.

Rejected iPod engravings

Engraving your iPod surely makes it unique and may have a detrimental effect on the resale value. If you really don't care, have your iPod engraved with your own special message.
Some people have done just that. And had Apple do it. But, just like trying to get vanity license plates from the state, there are some things they just won't print.
Check out some of the messages that Apple refused to engrave by clicking here. Warning: strong language; discretion advised.

Why the music industry just doesn't get it

Hijinks Ensue has a hilarious webcomic which could explain why the music industry has fallen flat on its face when it comes to digital music.

Winter HotSpot Hunting
Well, it happened again. Another weekend without wi-fi. But it wasn't the typical, neighbor-must-have-gone-out-of-town-and-shut-off-the-modem-so-I'll-have-to-wait-until-Monday outage. Here it is, Wednesday, and still, no connection. I have seen the network name only once, and I was unable to connect. I fear ol' Tim either moved his personal network, or painted his house with lead. So I had to get back to my roots and I started War Driving again. The sad thing is, my old trusted mystery neighbor signal gave me a faster connection than the Panera I tried, despite being the only one connected after closing time. It shouldn't take an hour to order a flashlight on eBay.
Could this be the end of my 18 month love affair with free internet access? Will I have to sever my left arm and/or leg and crawl to Comcast? Will I build an addition onto my house which extends an extra 10 feet into my backyard with the hope that another signal may exist? Or will I have to quit my job, grow a goatee, buy a beret and dust off my old poetry writing skills so I may become a permanent fixture of coffeehouses? Perhaps.
Just not Starbucks.
So I did some domestic War Chalking and moved around my house. I found a great spot on the couch. It is fast, even at 3 in the afternoon. However, it is incredibly inconvenient as I must keep the MacBook on my lap, which may compromise the use of my junk in the future from the heat of the machine. My quest continues...
I found that my kitchen/dining area served as a decent hot spot. The bars on my AirPort logo fluctuate from 3 to 1, but the speed seems do-able. The only question: do I commit to a big move, hauling the computer desk from my bedgeroom into the complete opposite corner of my house? Do I make room, manipulate the size of my dining table, downsize the dog's favorite hiding place?
Oh, yeah. If it means free surfing once again, I say: make it so.
Goodbye timair01, hello linksys! My guess is it belongs to my new neighbors across the street. Perhaps I should introduce myself. Perhaps I should leave well enough alone and toast to another 18 months!

Diggnation beer club
Diggnation is a weekly video podcast which is available from Revision3 and it hosts Alex Albrecht (l.) and Kevin Rose (r.). Kevin and friends are the masterminds behind the hugely popular website Digg.com in which the users post weird stories and news from all over.
Each week the guys sit on camera and cover the more popular stories posted to Digg that week, and drink different beers as suggested by the readers.
Now, Diggnation is sponsoring a beer club. For a fee of about $22 a month, you can receive a 12-pack of the beers featured on their site. But you don't have to sign up for a whole year. You can...
Hell, why explain it here, when you can just go to the beer club here.
So v-e-r-r-r-y tempting.
Dawn of the computer age

Ah, yes... when digital was the new analog.
Back before the Apple II and the PC Jr., computers came into being obscurely from less than known sources. In the early 70s when data was stored on puched cards, it took huge machines to sort, collate and trend information.
Return to those thrilling days of yesteryear when the computer age reared its head wearing a very strange hairstlyle.

Art from Tech
So sweet. Enterprising individuals with a lot of time and creativity take their useless tech junk and create things guaranteed to spark the imagination like this "Pteropod" (or whatever it's called) built from hard drive parts.
I've often wanted to cover an entire wall or at least a door with the pc motherboard skeletons that I've collected over the years.
With that in mind, one guy has covered his entire car body with printed circuit boards. A little overboard, I'd say.

Curiously Flabbergasted
"Flabbergasted". What a word. We still use it today to describe being astonished or unbelieving. According to Dictionary.com, its origins are unknown. But chances are, it's from the 19th or 18th century. Yeah, that narrows it down, don't it?
Why do we use this word, "flabbergasted"? Most probably because it's a little more powerful or, perhaps a little less powerful than the word "astonished", depending on the situation. Let's dissect the word, shall we?
Is it possible to be "flabbered" but not "gasted"?
"Damn! I ate too much turkey and I'm flabbered."
How about being "gasted" and not "flabbered"?
"I had three bean burritos and now I'm just gasted."
(With accompaniment.)
So, with this logic, the similaries would conclude that being flabbergasted means you ate too much. And you will fart a lot. People, beware, if this is in fact true.
But if being flabbergasted really means being astonished, then if someone ate a lot, and had the farts, YOU would be flabbergasted by the current way the word is used. So you're both the same.
So what should we do about people who use the word flabbergasted? Banning the word outright is a no-win situation. People will still be flabbergasted for years to come. No investment of laws and law enforcement will stop this. Hell, I just let one go and I'm flabbergasted that it happened.
What I suggest is this: Flabber=blubber and gast=gassed. The remaining "ed" we just blame on the previous centuries and coloquialism.
And if someone tells you they're flabbergasted, from now on, they've had too much to eat and are about to erupt nuclear-rectally with fallout.
So just back away.
OMG! The babes are back!
Well, not that many, but the babes are back.
After being outed by Photobucket and then having an album deleted from Picasa, I'm trying a new image host, ImageVenue. No questions asked, just tag your photo SWF or NSFW and be on your way.

Saturday Night Blue Collar Brew Review

Tonight's beer review is brought to us by a guy named Chris. Chris is one of the frontline supervisors at the ol' warehouse where I work and had overheard me talking about reviewing a new beer every week for SixPackTech. One thing led to another and before I knew it, Chris and I were chatting up beer whenever the occasion allowed. He recommended two different beers for me to try and perhaps review them on the site. Tonight's review is on one of those beers, Sleeman Original Dark beer.
Sleeman is a Canadian brewery that dates back to the mid 1830s. You can visit the Sleeman Brewery website right here.
At first glance, what interested me in this beer was the bottle. No paper label around the middle. The name of the brewery is sort of a bas relief right on the glass. Raised lettering, with a traditional Canadian maple leaf behind a beaver. After holding the bottle up to the light for a few moments to admire the amber color and the artwork, I finally got down to business.
I popped the cap, took a smell of the aroma coming from the open bottle and I felt like I was in for a unique taste experience. Sure, it smelled like beer, but just a little different. A nice different. The first swig from the bottle assured me that this beer will be on my list. Not too bitter and not sweet. Nice and mild. A great beer to come home to.Into the mug it goes. Tons of small bubbles cling to the side of the glass and the beer sits up with a nice thick head. The color is a little darker than the other amber beers I've had but not so dark as to give you pause and concern about drinking a dark beer. This is not a dark tasting beer. I was pleasantly surprised at how I'd taken to this beer. As the mug emptied itself down my gullet sip by sip, the maltiness of the brew became slightly more apparent. And tasty.
Sip after sip went right down and it made my tongue smile. Damn, I wish I had another one. Sleeman Original Dark is very nice blend of everything my sense of taste wants out of life. What a nice treat.
My special thanks to Chris for this wonderful goodie. And what a goodie it was!

Crap! They're all gone!
It looks like I've been censored again. The entire picture library repository for the Nat or Not feature has been deleted. It's not there anymore. No announcement, no mail, nuthin'. Just gone.
Funny, though, the Butt of the Week shots are still there and intact. So... it looks like butts are ok and boobs are not. I'll go somewhere else and try a new hosting service and see what happens.
This whole fiasco is compounded by the fact that we're still working O.T. out the wazoo, and Saturday looks like another 8-hour day at the ol' warehouse. Not to worry. I'll have plenty of time left in the day (night) to do a beer review and get the babes back up. New pics and voting are coming soon. Hang in there.
Thanks.
Update: just received a message today informing me that the Nat or Not album has been deleted due to inappropriate content. From the message: "...cannot contain obscenity, pornography, promotions of hate, incitement of violence, or spam, malicious code, or viruses."
Apparently someone has deemed pictures of bare breasted women to be obscene or pornographic. Or they hate it. Or it makes them violent or gets them sick. So be it.
