I do hereby declare that anyone who is familiar with the Macintosh computer and calls its operating system "Mac OS ECKS", is a Class-A doofus.
After Apple graduated from the classic Mac OS 9.22, Mac OS "Ten" was presented with a Roman numeral for ten, or "X". The term was bandied about by Apple pundits for months and Apple was teased for the redundancy of saying, "Mac OS Ten, Ten Dot Oh, or whatever version they were referring to at the time. You can read about it here on Wikipedia.
Mac OS X was introduced in 2000. That was seven (VII) years ago. Those boneheads had seven years of listening to other Mac people in conversation or in podcasts say, "Mac OS Ten".
There's a goateed guy who appears with Patrick Norton on a vidcast called "Systm". I've heard him say the "ecks-word" several times, and each time it sounds like fingernails on the blackboard to me. I yell at the monitor when he does that.
Guys like this are probably just Windows dweebs at heart who want to schmooze with the Mac crowd. They've probably played around with the Mac OS a bit because one of their drinking buddies owns an iMac or other Apple machine. But to hear them say the ecks-word is just downright chafing. CHAFING!
I wish there was some sort of a Mac Doofus award or tshirt that could be presented to these shlubs. They'd probably have the mental capacity to proudly display it on their walls or wear the tshirt.
So here is my plea to those unknowing computerheads out there. Please, please quit using the ecks-word. It's Mac OS "Ten", ten dot four dot ten. Ask somebody else about that third "ten".
Thank you. I feel a lot better now. Have a nice day.

Some Mac guys just don't get it
It's in the hole!

A lady (Is it a woman? What do you think?) Pulls into a garage for what seems to be an oil change. The garage is one of this types that has a "muffler pit" as we used to call it. Maybe she was just in a hurry. Hurry? It must be a guy, then.

Everywhere a sign

Everywhere we look we have some sort of advertising jammed down our throats, assaulting our eyes, and insulting our collective intelligences.
I've found a small collection of farcical billboards and signs all with the intent of making you smile. Some have obviously been digitally enhanced, but it just shows the creativity of the individual who has some artistic talent and a lot of time on his hands.
Click for a sign.

Chevy Volt video

Rocketboom has an interesting video up today wherein a field correspondent interviews a couple of techno guys about some of the specs on this upcoming vehicle. There are some great shots of the interior as well as the charging dock and other various views.
The interview takes a humorous turn when a female onlooker, walking home perhaps because of no designated driver, wanders into the camera. It's raining, she's wearing glasses, and her mouth is in gear.
The video is here.
